It’s been awhile since I’ve gone trolling for treasures so in the interest of fun (read: mid-morning diversion) I checked out what new arrivals there were at two of my favorite online sources for vintage modern furniture and accessories (ThisisnotIkea and Lushpad). Tons out there but here is a little roundup of preloved pieces that are both modern and affordable:
YELLOW VINYL RETRO SOFA, $795
This clean-lined three-seater sofa seems to “float” off its legs. A handsome piece that costs less than a new sofa at Crate&Barrell or the Sofa Company. It’s vinyl, which I would normally shun if it were a new, but since it’s vintage, it deserves a nod. Check out the listing at ThisIsNotIkea.com.
RETRO MODERN THROW PILLOW, $35
A great fun print (love the pink, chocolate, olive color scheme). Then I noticed it’s actually made with sequins. Groovy! Only one available. Found for sale at ThisIsNotIkea.
VINTAGE HOLLYWOOD REGENCY DINETTE TABLE AND CHAIRS, FREE
According to the owner’s listing, the entire set including table (shown below) is being offered for FREE. The four swivel chairs are upholstered in shimmery gold vinyl, and get this — they swivel and roll! There are casters under all that ornamental ironwork on the base.

ORIGINAL EAMES MOULDED FIBERGLASS ARMCHAIRS, $500/PAIR
Considering that new reproductions retail for around $350 per chair, you can go vintage instead and save yourself $100 per chair. These were made the old-fashioned way in grey fiberglass (as opposed to moulded plastic) so expect to see and feel a little strawlike texture on the surface. Owner ships from Laguna Beach, CA. According to the listing, the owner is entertaining offers.
MIDCENTURY DANISH MODERN STYLE ARMCHAIR, $125
Nice looking modern chair in the Danish Modern style. Crisp, white upholstered seat cushions against a honey colored wood frame. Spotted here at ThisIsNotIkea.

I agree, the sofa is a great piece. I’m not a modern style fan, but I do like vintage modern.
